Making good on its promises, Swedish electric car brand Polestar will open more retail locations in the United States this year.

Polestar, which is owned by Volvo, already has showrooms in Santa Monica, the San Francisco Bay Area (Corte Madera and Santa Clara), and Manhattan. By the end of 2021, the automaker has plans to open new showrooms – called Polestar Spaces – in 15 cities, according to a Monday announcement

The first half of this year will see new premises in Austin, Boston, Denver, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and South Florida. During the second half of this year, Polestar hopes to be able to open Spaces in Atlanta, Central and South New Jersey, Connecticut, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis, Phoenix, and Orange County.

As Insider has previously reported, these will be standalone, Polestar-branded showrooms, despite the brand being a relatively new spinoff from Volvo. The showrooms will not be your typical car dealership, nor will they have lots of inventory sitting on a lot.

Rather, they’ll be minimalist and sparse, with only one or two display models for you to check out. A Polestar spokesperson said the whole experience will be similar to that of “any premium luxury store.” From these showrooms, you can get more information about the cars, see a trim or color in person, or schedule a test drive.

You'll need a valid driver's license in order to book either an on-site or at-home test drive, but if you don't live in any of Polestar's current showroom locations, Jalopnik reports that it doesn't look like a test drive is in the cards for you.

But you can still buy a Polestar if you don't live near a showroom! You can always order a car and arrange to have it delivered to you, and service will be taken care of by participating Volvo dealerships.
